On Sunday, November 12th, Atwater Village will feel the rumble of over 15,000 motorcycles as Love Ride 23 participants embark on a 50 mile motorcycle ride to Castaic Lake park for a concert, a trade show, and a barbeque lunch. The event starts at the edge of Atwater Village, at the Harley-Davidson of Glendale, at 3717 San Fernando Road Glendale, CA 91204
LOVE RIDE is one of the largest one-day motorcycle fundraising events in the world. Last year, Love Ride 22 included over 20,000+ participants who helped raise a record $1.45 million for charity. The event is a caravan of over 20,000 motorcycles that start at Harley-Davidson/Buell of Glendale, California, and travel the distance to a see a concert, enjoy a barbecue, and see trade booths at Castaic Lake.
But it is not limited to just Harleys… all motorcycle brands are welcome. Even if you do not have a motorcycle, you can still enjoy the experience at the lake.
Jay Leno, has been the Grand Marshal since 2000 and will be there again this year. The "Love Ride" was first organized back in 1983 to raise money for "Jerry's Kids," the Muscular Dystrophy Association. This year, the money raised will benefit the Los Angeles Time's literacy initiative Reading By 9, as well as the Muscular Dystrophy Association, The March of Dimes, and over 25 other charities.
This year's live performances will be by The Black Crowes, Edgar Winter and the Fryed Brothers.
In the past, the festival has had on-stage performances from stars such as the Doobie Brothers, Sheryl Crowe, Elvin Bishop, Jackson Browne, Los Lobos, George Thorogood & the Destroyers, the Steve Miller Band, Jim Belushi, Crosby, Stills & Nash and Big Brother & The Holding Company.
