There is plenty of attention on the Los Angeles River these days and the state of the river, especially along the banks of Atwater Village. We have been present at several planning and informational meetings and want to pass along resource links for our community. Although, there have been serious talks and committee meetings about improving The River since 2000 (and prior). We just hope it is finally going to happen in the next year, for the Atwater Village section of the river.
We are all for revitalizing the area and making it a safe and beautiful setting for our neighborhoods. Some people actually bike, jog and walk despite the state of the area. However most people avoid the river's edge... not everyone feels comfortable being among the local "river people," graffiti taggers, and the random itinerant folks. No doubt about it, it would be wonderful if everyone was able to enjoy spending time along the flowing water.
To catch up on present and past news and resources about the revitalization plans, please take a look at the following links.
