They will be featuring artists Carolyn Mendoza and Robert Nydam on Friday, April 20th, from 7pm-10pm. Both artists will be present.
Carolyn Mendoza, a fine artist from Venice, California, has established a long-term career in working with metal. Influenced by nature, she creates unique sculptural designs by welding natural forms on to steel. Using various patina techniques, vivid colors hidden beneath the surface are drawn out. These one-of-a-kind organic artworks can be enjoyed in both indoor and outdoor settings and can be custom designed to suit the client's individual needs.
Bob Nydam's signature is the interplay of chaos and order. Chaos flows through the images of insects evoking a gut-level emotional reaction without the baggage of most cultural and religious icons. Plain and simple: bugs are creepy! Look again and the ordered backgrounds depict a need to control the world through the trappings of dualism and fundamentalism. These layers of cacophony and control aspire to create a third layer existent on a more hopeful and deeper psycho-spiritual level.
